It would appear to me this product was not ready for "prime time". It has been a long time since I've had this much trouble installing software. I've contacted Macphun, and they gave me a new "test version, release 646" which did not correct the problem. It also does not show up in the Control Panel under "Installed Programs". I don't get an error message, and when I click on the "Aurora_Setup_SIC.exe" file it goes through the installation process, and ends with the message "Aurora HDR installed", but there is no icon anywhere, and it does not show up in the Program Files (x86) folder where it was to have been installed.

I never downloaded the trial version, bought the prepaid package, and the program will not install on my Windows 10, 64 bit machine. I just hope I won't have to write back, saying, "Just when I thought Aurora was working perfectly."
I believe that somehow during the unzipping process Webroot screwed everything up. And I would re-emphasize John's suggestion for those who are having trouble installing Aurora to try turning off your anti-virus checker, and see if that might make a difference. Prior to my second test, I restored Webroot, but of course that no longer had any influence on my next test pics.įor the moment, let's hope I'm not knocking on wood, but everything seems okay now. I saved the final picture as a TIFF, exported it to PS, made some minor test changes in PS, and then converted and saved it as a 16-bit PSD file. My anti-virus software is Webroot Secure Anywhere, version 9.0.17.28, and I knew your suggestion would just be a waste of time, because my knowledgeable BB advisor said that Webroot would operate perfectly in the background, and would not interfere with any downloads. John, you asked me to switch off my anti-virus program to see if that would make any difference, and ready to try anything at this point, I did. Not at Macphun, but at that friendly Best Buy dealer who gave me his assurance. Huh? What gives here? Now I'm overjoyed and overly angry.

I use Windows Defender, but never switch it off to install software. I'm reaching here, but I think it might be worth looking into for now.
As for those people who are having no trouble installing and using Aurora 2018, I have to wonder how many are Mac users.

Perhaps it's still a bit too early to blame Macphun entirely, (especially as others here have stated that they've installed and are using the program with no problems), but I'm beginning to think that this situation needs a little closer examination. They can at least use the program, but then everything goes haywire. It's also interesting to note that their problems are quite different from mine.
